Career Development: Leveraging Mentoring and Interviewing Skills
This presentation will help you learn ways to maximize using mentors in career development, for both general and specialty mentors, and ways to enhance interviewing skills and "remove doubt" in an interview. The focus to remove doubt as primary goal in an interview is a unique approach that for more than 25 years has helped candidates prepare for interviews highlighting the interviewee’s role in identification and removal of doubt in the minds of the interviewer.

Eric Hoss is a director in the Integrated Solutions Department at State Farm’s corporate headquarters focusing on Transition and Migration Services for the Canadian Migration Program.
Prior to coming to the Integrated Solutions Department, Eric was a service manager in Business Information Systems managing the State Farm Payment Plan system, and a Professional Development Manager managing Financial Business Analysts in Systems Project Development. Eric is active in the auxiliary faculty program having taught the New Manager Leadership Workshop, New Neighbor Orientation, and Preparing to be Interviewed classes for State Farm. Eric is also the author of an interviewing book Removing Doubt in an Interview- a better approach to getting the job you want which was first published in 2009 and with a second edition in 2012. Eric has presented interviewing skills training at national conferences and on TV and radio and is a recognized subject matter expert on interviewing. He also is a part-time instructor at Illinois State University and Heartland College teaching interviewing skills and Leadership Communication. Eric has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Illinois State University and has received his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations. Prior to joining State Farm in 2000, Eric was vice president of operations for Applied Graphics Technologies, a $400 million graphic arts company in Chicago |
